2008 Miss Brea Scholarship Pageant auditions held Sunday, January 20, 2008, from 4:00 – 6:00p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Brea, California. This pageant is a franchised local affiliate of the Miss America Pageant
Finalists – Eight Contestants, Lindsay Dean – sponsored by Pawlack Tile , Caitlin Smith – sponsored by Lance Soll & Lunghard LLP, Shea Roldan – sponsored by Johnson Auto Parts, Aarika Munro-Steingraeber – sponsored by Syd Wyncoop NASE, Kelsey Dysart – sponsored by Elite Team Realtors Aaron & Mindy Mills, Vanessa Atanay – sponsored by Dr. Atanay DDS., Rochelle Cadiz, and Ashley Sewell. (We are still in need of two more contestant sponsors).
The Brea Improv will host the 2008 Miss Brea Scholarship Pageant on March 10th. Miss Brea will receive a $5,000.00 scholarship along with other prizes and the privilege of competing at the state level for the title of Miss California in Fresno this June.
At the auditions, Sunday Jan. 20th, contestants were judged in the traditional pageant categories: interview, formal wear, talent, swimsuit and on-stage question. After a mandatory orientation, the judges, consisting of some prominent city officials and organizations were given the task to choose the top ten who will via for the title of Miss Brea on March 10th. Those in attendance were: Brea Mayor Don Schweitzer, Brea City Councilman Ron Garcia, Brea Chamber of Commerce President Michael Lawton, President of the Brea Soroptimists & local business woman Deborah Cantwell, John Robert Powers representative Natasha Peterson, Mr. Brea 2008 Lane Cromelin, Brea’s Curtis Theater Managing Director Tiina Mittler, Brea Down Town Executive Director Sylvia Bianchi, Interior & Exterior Design’s President Leon Williams, MKR Dance Production Studio’s – dancer-trainer-owner Michelle Richey, Brea Elite Team Realtors Aaron & Mindy Mills, Brea Banco Popular Branch Manager Nancy Gonzalez, Brea Trophy President Mitzi Mihlbauer, Realtor/Financier – entertainer, motivational speaker, writer Debbie Delbridge, Dancer-Trainer-Competitor Stacy Smith, Miss Wisconsin American Coed 1988 - Miss Wisconsin International 1989 and local business woman - Angie Griffin and Miss Los Angeles County 1981 - Miss Hollywood 1982 and business woman, Linda Mosier. In attendance, was visiting queen Miss Teen Rancho Santa Margarita 2008 - Samantha McKeon
On hand to donate services to the contestants were Allie Hendricks’s and her staff from Alexander’s Hair Salon and Spa. Lisa Winters, makeup artist, and her staff from The Primping Parleur and the Global Limousine Co. provided contestant transportation. Refreshments were donated by Leon Williams of Interior & Exterior Designs. Jose, owner of Extreme Commercial Pressure Washer and Dr. Atanay DDS. provided video services for the event.
Each contestant received a certificate of accomplishment from the Miss Brea Scholarship Pageant for auditioning. Local businesses validated the contestant’s efforts with donations; Brea Florist – rose bouquets, Corporate Gifts & Trophies – contestant sashes, Down Town Birch St. Business Association – gift certificates, John Robert Powers – gift certificates, Fitness One Express – gym memberships, Fantastic Tans – gift certificates. The Miss Brea Scholarship Pageant welcomes local businesses, family and friends of contestants to place supportive advertisements or business size ads in the official pageant program. We also welcome in-kind donations from local businesses for gifts and prizes to the Miss Brea contestants and queen.

& the Miss Brea Scholarship Pageant in cooperation with the Brea Community Center
join forces to host a daytime pageant workshop experience and evening pageant production for girls in the local community between the ages of 5 - 16. The event will take place December 13, 2008 at the Brea Community Center. All traditional aspects of pageant competition will be addressed.
Contact the Brea Community Center or the Miss Brea Pageant for more details. There is a fee associated with participating in this program as well as attending the evening pageant production. Only individuals who complete the daytime class can participate in the evening production. Proceeds from this event go to support Children's Miracle Network and Victims of Domestic Violence.
